20/07: Proof Music is the Key
This is a trailer for Mass Effect 2 and it still makes me choke up the way they put it together and it's all thanks to the music.
I got one word.
SUH-WHEET!
18/01: Where's Your Dignity, Daisy?
When I saw this while perusing items about Mario I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. One of the major complaints that Mario fans have had is that it seems like even after Princess Daisy was introduced to the canon, Princess Peach is always still the one being kidnapped.

I guess Princess Peach will always be a fan favorite. :)

23/09: Where Has the Time Gone?
Wow.
It's been a little while since I last wrote here on my blog, but that's not to surprising as I've been rather busy plus no one really reads here except for spambots and the random viewer. Oh, well. Maybe with the gearing of this blog in a different direction of interest may spawn some readers.
Life as a Egress technician has been a little difficult trying to not only get in to the swing of working on my feet all day, but trying to get used to the ejection seat AND working maintenance period. My CDC (Career Development Course) came in June (I think) and I've been plugging away at them trying to get upgraded to a 5-level.
PROJECTS
My game projects have not been moving as much as I wanted too.
Cerberi Revenge
This mod for Battlezone II: Combat Commander is presently in development of it's 1.2 Final patch that will try to be compatible with the newest release of the 1.3ta5 patch that GSH has released. It's taking me a little bit as my attentions have been focused somewhere else.
Hidden Enemies
This has come to a stop literally as it needs rebuilt from the ground up and we are going to dedicate the resources toward getting Cerberi Revenge out of the way before continuing Hidden Enemies.
Tomb Of Kambythet
Big news on this original project I have been working on. Matt Milne has been gracious enough to create an original music score for my project and it is coming along nice. This game has been getting most of my attention as of late and I hope to have this one done before January of 2010.
In ending, things have been going good and I hope to be able to go home on leave sometime soon! See you all around!

18/09: I Must Be Extremely Tired...
I don’t know why, but I cracked up laughing so hard when I saw the following comic. I mean, it’s silly and predictable, but I couldn’t stop laughing for the longest time…gotta be stress.

Comic from Another Halo Comic Strip by Paul

Comic from Another Halo Comic Strip by Paul
Here's another GAMA Origins blog post I wrote, but forgot to post.
Ever got to blast monsters before and I’m not referring to computer games like Halo (though these monster did look a little like the flood).
This morning when I went in to the convention center to get my badge out of the large crowd I spotted a couple of people in the gray camophlage uniforms. My first thought was that they were recruitment officers for the marines or army until I noticed that their squad badge said, “United States Space Marines”. That definitely got my attention. I spent the whole hour in line getting my event tickets and badge reading up on them in the Origins reference book and found out that they were an LARP (Live Action Role Playing) group crossed with a soft air group who used soft air BB guns.
The whole thing was a story where you could go in and find out why a stationed had gone silent and then try to fight your way out of the base where the company’s ‘experiments’ are running loose. Sound fun? It sure was. I almost would go as far and say that it was thee most fun thing I did there.
Well anyhow, we got our briefing/safety lesson from the Sergeant who mixed the in character with the out of character very beautifully. Explained to us that we will be given a weapon with only three clips of ammunition and that we would be on our way to return home.
On board the shuttle (it was a darkened room with chairs and tables with gadgets on it to make it look like the inside of a space ship with the sergeant and other soldiers talking to each other as the sound of the engines hummed around us.
I was an engineer. I got a brown flak vest and a shot gun. The cool thing was that I had bought a pair of dog tags from the gift stand and the armorer saw it and through me another shotgun saying that with the dogtags comes the benefits.
So, you can imagine me sitting in the chair, the dark room around me with other ‘soldiers’, ‘medics’, and ‘engineers’, the hum of the shuttle’s engines in my ears.
Suddenly there was an explosion and the lead soldier started shouting that the ‘Primary phased drive has just been shot out.’.
We land on a planet, breach the doors of the starbase (real walls and doors) and discover the abandoned base. Note, this room is dark and the only lights are from the flashlights on the rifleman’s guns and those from the room around. It wasn’t much help as it was more like ambient light.
So, as an engineer I followed ‘blue squad’ through the area searching when a young girl came charging out screaming that they were loose and collapsed unconscious. Our medic couldn’t bring her back, but at that point somewhere in the building an unearthly yowl started being picked up by another and another. We had friends in the building.
The soldier beside me was getting nervous and I calmed him down by warning him that loosing our heads would be very dangerous
(NOTE: The ambient effects, costumes, acting, were so well done it was not hard to believe you really were in a starbase and it was *very* easy to get in to the spirit of things and pretend to be an engineer.)
Suddenly his eyes got wide and he screamed, “OH &@#*#$, DUCK!”
I hit the ground as he opened up on whatever was behind us. That unearthly howl screamed behind me as I rolled away. This creature had jumped out of the corner of the dark room. It totally took our team off guard and I wound up with a wound point.
(Everybody has three points except the engineers who have 4. I had an extra as part of a bonus for the dogtags. Getting tapped by the monster means you’ve suffered a wound and three of them would kill you. Medics had to heal you.)
As the creature fell from the hail of bullets (BBs), I shouted for a medic who arrived and began patching me up.
(Medics have a length of clothesline tied with five notes in it. He is to untie each not beside you and then tie the cloth lines around your arm counting as the medic working on you. I only got one thank goodness cause later we needed the medics desperately.)
The monster was subdued and we continued our inward push in to the factory.
Suffice to say the battles were fun and I didn't know what was going out. Out of our team of fifteen, only five of us made it out (and proud to say I was one of the five). My brothers want to come with me next year so we can all go together and kick some alien butt!

I announced it to my friends through the email, but I thought I should make a post of it on my blog as I don’t post here much (when I should).
This year has been a good year as I have been able to save up enough money to go Columbus, Ohio for the Star Fleet Battles Origins Competition! If you know me, you know I am a fan of a war-game known as Star Fleet Battles.
http://www.starfleetgames.com/
I have been trying to go to their competition for over three years and finally have enough time and money to go! My mom and dad are driving me.
We have the hotel all booked and the badges and tickets bought.
I’ll probably update you from the hotel or when I get back on how things are going. (or write delayed blog entries.)
I’ll be leaving in June so if I disappear that’s where I’ll be!

AHHHHHHH! I’ve been trying to learn how to use the programming language JAVA for over three months now and I must be dense as a board. It’s been taking forever to figure it out and I’m still lost.
Don’t worry about me, I’m just relieving some stress that has been building up. Command line compilers, strange ways of converting .java to .class, Encapsulation, Inheritance, and interfaces all somehow make a bloody object oriented program.
Anyhow, back to the book.

11/12: I Beat Tim!

I did it! I beat my brother Timothy fair and square in a match of Star Wars: Empires At War - Forces of Corruption. For years I have played by brother Timothy at all sorts of games but only 1 out of 10 rounds of all sorts of games do I win.
So, it was a major triumph for me and my losing streak to be able to best Timothy. He was playing the Zann Consortium while I was the Galactic Empire. We were at a stale mate till I was able to save up enough money to build the Death Star. From that point on things went downhill for him.
He challenged me to a re-match which I will probably loose, but I just wanted to announce to the world that I beat him. :D
DISCLAIMER: These two brothers have been blowing each other up for years and bragging rights have been rightly awarded to the winners. No "brother-bashing" intended with this post.
02/10: It's Beaten!

It’s done. I finished it late Saturday night, but I did it. The Flood has been stopped, the war is over and I think that I got the enough bang for my buck to count for the one and thirty four dollars I put out for Halo 3: Legendary Edition.
Timothy and I played immediately when I got home and we co-oped through the single player campaign. He was the Arbiter while I played the Master Chief.
Bungie Studios did exceptionally well in living up to the hype that was built around Halo 3 and I’m glad that they ended the story well. I’m a story fan and I was worried that they would blow the ending…the same type of worry I had when I watched Pirates of the Carribean III: At World’s End.
Hopefully if I figure a way to get the screenshots off my computer, I’ll upload a Halo 3 Fan site.
Now, off to work I go.
